Eight small steps. Most people are through the first four in about five minutes.

Create your account
Press Log in at the top of any page and choose Create an account. Your first name, your email address and a password are all it needs; your timezone is picked up from your device, and you can change it.
Straight after, a one-minute profile: your level, what you want Japanese for, what you find hardest. Maria reads it before your first lesson. You can edit it any time.

Choose how you want to start
Open Lessons & Prices and pick one. Not sure yet? The 15-minute trial for €10 is the easy first hello, once per person. A single lesson is 50 minutes, one to one. A plan of 4, 8, 12 lessons costs less per lesson.
Every lesson or plan becomes lesson credits in your account: one credit, one lesson. Plans and the membership also open the student area, with the games, the weekly reading and a direct line to Maria.

Pay securely
Press Get started, then Buy, and you go to Stripe's secure payment page, the same one many shops you know use. Pay by card, or with Apple Pay or Google Pay where your device has them. Your card details never touch this website.
The moment the payment goes through you are back here, your credits are in your account and a receipt is in your inbox. The price you saw is the price you pay.

Pick your day and time
Right after paying you land on the calendar (or press Book a lesson later, whenever you like). Days with a free slot are marked. Tap a day, then a time: every time is already in your own timezone, so there is nothing to convert. Lessons can be booked from 12 hours ahead.
Press Confirm and one credit is used. Nothing to choose, nothing to type again: your profile already said who you are.

Booked. Now it's on your dashboard
A confirmation email arrives straight away. Your dashboard shows the lesson with a countdown, and 24 hours before it a reminder brings the meeting link. The link is on the dashboard too, so nothing can get lost.
Want to say hello first, or ask what to prepare? Messages on the dashboard go straight to Maria, and she answers them herself.

Your lesson with Maria
Press the link when it's time. Zoom or Google Meet, whichever you prefer; a quiet spot and headphones help. Maria has read your profile and your last notes, so the first minute is already about you.
50 minutes, one to one. Mostly talking, in Japanese as much as you can manage, with grammar explained plainly when it comes up. Complete beginners say their first sentences in this very lesson.

After the lesson: notes, words, homework
After the lesson Maria leaves her notes on your dashboard: what you covered, the new words with their readings, and, if you want it, a little homework. Your progress moves, and the games keep the new words alive.
Between lessons there are a few minutes of games a day, a book of the week and videos. More on those below.

Booking the next lesson is two taps from the dashboard: a day, a time, done. The dashboard always shows how many credits you have left, and a new plan takes a minute.
Plans change. Move or cancel a lesson yourself up to 24 hours before it starts and the credit goes straight back. Closer than that the lesson is charged, so if something serious comes up, send Maria a message first.

Complete beginner?
Perfect. Most students start from zero. You'll say your first sentences in the first lesson, and the games start with the very first words.

Packages have a generous validity, shown on each one before you buy. Your dashboard always shows how many credits you have and until when.
